Fire up, Chippewas

Central Michigan won the NCAA Division II national championship in 1974 and added a string of MAC titles, including the 2006 conference crown. Those achievements reflect a program with a strong record of developing talent and winning in Mount Pleasant.

Chippewa fans rally around maroon-and-gold pride and the “Fire Up Chips” call. The Battle for the Cannon against Western Michigan is the defining rivalry, while matchups with Eastern Michigan and Toledo bring the Mid-American Conference together.
