Overview
Georgia Southern Eagles
GATA, Georgia Southern
Georgia Southern won six FCS national championships between 1985 and 2000, establishing one of the subdivision’s great dynasties. The Eagles’ triple-option tradition and multiple playoff titles shaped a distinct football identity before the move to the FBS level.
Eagle fans bring Statesboro pride and the “GATA” call—“Get After Their Asses”—to game day. The rivalry with App State is the “Deeper Than Hate” contest, while Georgia State and Coastal Carolina provide regional Sun Belt stakes.
