Sheldon Keefe when asked if he takes anything out of the third period: "Listen, it’s positive. It was a good period. I like that our guys responded. I challenged them after the second. There are score effects going on in the game. Washington’s not quite the same with their comfortable lead, but it certainly is better than the alternative that our guys could show that we could push and play down there. Score effects usually are a thing, and I think they probably are certainly at play here today. But like I said, it’s better than the alternative. If anything, from our game the other night, it was one of the things I actually liked about our third period: We didn’t allow the Rangers to come at us. We kept playing and kept in control. But it’s too little, too late, and we didn’t make good on the chances that we did generate earlier in that third period where maybe we could have made it a little more interesting." #NJDevils

Sheldon Keefe on the second period: "I don’t know if we won a puck battle the entire second period. Loose pucks around. We didn’t physically get anybody stopped. We didn’t get in anybody’s way, so they’re just roaming around. We’re constantly on our heels in terms of one guy allowing somebody to beat us and get by us, so somebody else has to leave their check to try to cover it. Now you’re just stuck all in between. All the things that we did really well against the Rangers in terms of being tight and giving them a whole lot of nothing, that didn’t hold up here today against this team." #NJDevils

The animosity towards Sheldon Keefe on this app by many is interesting. Firing him does not fix this issues of this team. Maybe he isn't the answer, but he's not the problem either. The guy made the playoffs everywhere he's ever coached until last season. I don't think that's a coincidence. 🤷🏻‍♂️ #NJDevils
