📌 Michigan State coach Tom Izzo on Jeremy Fears' ankle: 'I don't see it being a problem' Story by @jakelyskawa for SpartanMag: https://t.co/Mp8CJG31wA https://t.co/emosKH1sOY

Tom Izzo and Jeremy Fears Jr. both said after practice they expect Fears to play Sunday at Marquette. Izzo wouldn’t commit 100% but it’s certainly his expectation. Won’t risk it though if it’s something that can linger, he said.

The upper deck jut above it. Sitting in that first-row corner seat felt like being over the field in a low-flying hot air balloon.

The second-longest chat Dan Hurley had with MSU players in the handshake line was with Jesse McCulloch. His message: "Get your center room right and you guys are gonna have a chance to play in the stadium here in Detroit in April." https://t.co/7QCM8kNM9u

I did have a Mark Fidrych shirt, though. As a second grader. I’m sure it was an unlicensed knockoff iron-on. But it was a prized possession.

UConn coach Dan Hurley was effusive in his praise of Breslin Center tonight post-game. "To get a chance to play and coach here, for somebody that loves the game and has grown up in it … just an honor to be in the building here and play a game here." https://t.co/dzhzpp7gBi

Tom Izzo: “We won’t have to worry about my guys thinking they’re better than they are. But practices have been great. I see no entitlement from anybody. But we got punched in the mouth and that will be good for us. “This is the best game we could have played in the country. We couldn’t have played a better team, a better-coached team, a better offense that they run. This is the best exhibition game that we could have played.”

Final: UConn 78, MSU 70 Spartans wrap up exhibition play Sunday against Marquette in Milwaukee, then the real thing Nov. 2 against Quinnipiac.

UConn leads MSU 30-22 at halftime of the Spartans' second exhibition. They shot 8-22, 1-8 3PT. Fears had probably his best in-game dunk at MSU. October hoops.
