Dak Prescott when asked about no one pulling away in the NFC East: “Hope’s always gonna be there. That’s encouraging, obviously, but you don’t want to lose any games. And so, to me, the more you get caught up on that, the more you’re giving yourself leeway, ‘We can lose a game because nobody’s taking off with it.’ “Hell, it’s wide open for us to take off with it. That’s how I see it, and echoing that to the guys, and obviously they know that. They watch football on Sunday. They see it. They watched how some of those games ended, particularly in our division, right? “And throughout the league, just how close this league is, and how small the margin is from a win and a loss. So, yeah, it’s all out there.”@jonmachota on X · Oct 17 · Source

New Cowboys senior defensive assistant Mike Pettine on how he can help Christian Parker as a first-time DC: “I think I can help a lot. It’s funny, I have a big, about 4-inch thick book of what not to do, and a very thin one of what to do. “I think that’s key, is learning from others’ mistakes. As much as you think you’re prepared for it, you’re really not until you get into it. And I think that’s where I’ll be able to help.”@jonmachota on X · Oct 16 · Source

Dak Prescott talking about supporting Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson: “I heard Jake taking some ownership of it, obviously, as he does and did from the jump to some of the receivers. And I just kind of jumped his ass about, like, ‘We know that, man. You don’t have to explain yourself to this group. The trust, blood, sweat and tears. We’re the ones who sacrifice and do it together. We don’t need your explanation. We all believe in you. We watch the way you practice and prepare, forget about it. Expert commentary

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer: “We got to clean it up. Lost two games in a row. Haven’t played well. Got to take a hard look at it. And that starts with me.” https://t.co/TItEogBzgN

@toddarcher · Oct 19

Brian Schottenheimer said he considered taking a timeout after Dak Prescott took a big hit one play before his first interception. “He’s a warrior. He got the wind knocked out of him, and he’s tough as nails, man, and an elite competitor …I said, ‘Are you OK?’ And he kind of gave me the head nod. I don’t think that (hit) had anything to do with (the turnover).” Prescott said after the game he would not need X rays, that it’s just a bruise.

@toddarcher · Oct 19

At 2-4, the Cowboys are reaching a critical point to their season. Brian Schottenheimer: "There's definitely time to pull out of it, but we got to fix the mistakes that we've talked about. This is something that we've addressed and talked about. And again, starts with myself and the coaching staff to understand, again, the ball matters more than anything in the National Football League. Second is the line of scrimmage. And we haven't been very good in the last two games, so that's what we're responsible and accountable for. I stand up here and accept that."

@jonmachota · Oct 19

Dak Prescott: “Very frustrating. But we got to fix it. And all the guys in that locker room are capable of it. “We put ourselves in this position. We just got to take it one at a time. We just got to go get a win.” https://t.co/qAeYyQN6RR

@jonmachota · Oct 19

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer: “I’m gonna start with what I told the guys. The effort is right. The fight is right. But mistakes are killing us. Repeating mistakes is not what we’re about.” https://t.co/KsvG8r0W6O

@jonmachota · Oct 19

Dak Prescott said he got the wind knocked out of him when he took that shot to his ribs. “I wasn’t coming out of the game.” Did that impact his INT on the next play: “I’m not a guy of excuses.” https://t.co/K5aQVPgXUK

@jonmachota · Oct 19

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer on how they bounce back: “Go back to work. That’s what we’re going to do. Our guys are going to respond. It’s not the effort. It’s execution.” https://t.co/MCGcy2rPIy

From ESPN Research: The Cowboys’ 29 points in last two games are their fewest in a 2-game span in Dak Prescott starts since 2024 Weeks 5-6

@toddarcher · Oct 19

The Cowboys offense has to be better. Two games in a row they struggled badly. 13 points against a defense that was missing some of its best players.

@toddarcher · Oct 19

The Cowboys are now 2-4 with their 23-13 loss to the Packers. In the Super Bowl era the Cowboys have not made the playoffs with such a start after six games. While the NFC East is a mess, there’s no reason to think at the moment that the Cowboys can pull out of this funk. Up next: the similarly 2-4 Eagles on Monday Night Football.

@toddarcher · Oct 19

The fact that the Cowboys scored 40 points against the Packers, with Micah Parsons on the field, last year, seems a long time ago.

@jonmachota · Oct 19

There’s too much talent on the Cowboys’ offense to look this bad. Everything is difficult for them tonight, just like last week against Tampa Bay. Makes no sense
